Thirty students under Islamic Zakaat Fund IZF sponsorship have graduated at Zanzibar University this year.
Speaking to Radio Islam IZF bursary officer Daud Pias said the students have been awarded bachelor’s degrees in procurement, international relations and information technology among other fields.
He advised the graduating students to help others in order to improve their lives
The bursary officer said IZF will continue sponsoring needy deserving students.
In an annual report of April 2019 IZF Chairman Kassam Okhai says since its registration in August 1991, the Fund has succeeded in educating over 2500 university graduates.
“Most of them have successfully secured employment and thus bring a positive impact to their lives and to societies at large. Among the graduates, some have managed to secure top posts in public and private sectors,” says Okhai
He appealed for continued support to the youth as in the 2019/2020 academic year their planned budget is 1.5 million dollars to support 2000 students in secondary schools and 1200 tertiary level students.
IZF is sponsoring students at Zanzibar and Sumait universities in Tanzania, International University of Africa in Sudan, Islamic University in Uganda and Malawi universities, colleges and secondary schools.
