Government said it is committed to transform prisoners into reliable and responsible citizens through vocational training.
Minister of Homeland Security, Richard Chimwendo Banda, made the statement on Monday at a graduation ceremony organized by prison fellowships to certify ex convicts who have undergone vocational trainings at the facility.
Banda applauded prison fellowship for helping the government in transforming the prisoners.
In his remarks Executive Director for prison fellowship Rodrick Zalimba, said since the establishment of the facility in 2005, over one thousand ex convicts have benefited from the program.
41 ex prisoners of which 9 are females have been certified with certificates in tailoring, carpentry and joinery, electrical installation, and welding and fabrication.
