Chakwera fails to release new cabinet

Political scientist Vincent Kondowe says the failure by President Dr Lazarus Chakwera to reshuffle his cabinet as earlier promised will erode people’s trust in the Tonse alliance government.

In an interview with radio Islam, Kondowe says government was supposed to honour its promise, adding the recent development indicates that Tonse administration is clueless and running government by trial and error.

Kondowe has also faulted Chakwera for publicly saying that “the reshuffle has delayed due to the delay by Vice president to submit the cabinet assessment reports.”

He was however quick to say, by giving the Vice president an opportunity to assess the cabinet, Chakwera has deep trust in Dr Saulos Chilima

On Monday 29 March 2021 press officer Brian Banda promised Malawians that Chakwera would release the new cabinet in two days time

The state house had also announced this year that the new ministers will be announced at the end of the first quarter of 2021

However in a statement Banda says reviewing the cabinet is a huge task therefore will take few more days

He says the new cabinet will be released as per constitution

Initially a photo of Chakwera and Chilima scrutinising the new cabinet was made public therefore people are surprised to hear that the latter has just submitted the cabinet assessment report to the president for final review
