Demonstrations Negatively Affect Tourism In Malawi

Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has revealed that recent political issues have negatively affected the sector.

This has been disclosed by Minister responsible Salim Bagus during a press briefing in Lilongwe on commemoration of 2019 tourism month.

Bagus said Malawi has lost a lot of revenue due to cancellation of hotel bookings by some tourists because of demonstrations.

“I warn demonstrators and HRDC to avoid making decisions which will affect national economy,”warned Bagus

He then called upon journalists to join hands in promoting tourism by writing more issues which can attract tourists.

This year’s tourism commemoration month will be held under the theme “tourism and jobs-a better future for all.”
