Police officers in Ntcheu have arrested 10 agro dealers for buying maize from farmers at low prices than government set farm gate prices, without a licence and using un recommended scales

Ntcheu Public relations officer inspector Hastings Chigalu says thesuspects were arrested at Kampepuza mobile market on 23rd April

A 2 tonner lorry loaded with 30 bags of maize was also impounded as the agro dealers had no licence to ply the trade

“The 10 suspects will appear in court soon to answer applicable charges,” Chigalu

Police officers will continue monitoring and ensuring that all players in the agricultural sector adhere to minimum commodity prices set by government

The police hereby warns al commodity traders against non compliance to the set measures

It has to be well noted that non adherence is leading to prosecution
