Malawi Union for the Blind MUB says alternative education measures put in place have increased alienation of visually impaired students from their educational right.

In a statement MUB executive director Ezekial Kumwenda said the methods are contributing to exclusion of learners with visual impairment due to lack of resources.

Government put several measures for Learners to be accessing education after the schools were closed in March due to Coronavirus.

“We are attributing the challenge to lack of inclusive planning in design and delivery of the methods,” He said.

He has asked government and relevant stake holders to consider the needs of visually impaired students and make necessary provisions in the policies, plans as well as programs right from their inception.
