Elephant kills man in Kasungu amidst animal relocation

An elephant has killed one person and injured another in Kasungu district.

This is happening as department of national parks and wild life is in the process of translocating elephants and other wild life animals from Liwonde National park to Kasungu National park from 27th June this year.

Confirming the development with Radio Islam, director of department of national parks and wildlife Brighton Kumchedwa said “it is not yet known whether the elephant was among those that have been transferred from Liwonde national park.”

Kumchedwa however was quick to assure people in the area that the department is doing all it can to get hold of the elephant.

Among others he said an aircraft and rangers have been sent to help force the elephant back into the park.
