18 councils have not qualified for the first circle of MASAF 4 public works funding.

According to local development fund LDF technical support team 17 out of 35 councils have fulfilled all the conditions agreed upon with the ministry of finance.

“Therefore the team says government has released 4.7 billion kwacha for preparation of sub-projects, procurement of tools and payment of wages in the qualified councils,” says the team

It says 450, 000 beneficiaries are targeted to benefit from this circle.

However, LDF says beneficiaries in the councils which have not qualified for the funding will still implement the works with direct supervision and wage payment from the centre.

“The wage rate and beneficiaries remain the same as per repeater beneficiary principle,” says government

22 councils have fully liquidated funding they received for the second circle of 2016 to 2017 public works.
