Councillors’ bye-elections calender launch Friday

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has said will launch electoral calendar for the long-awaited Local Government By-elections this Friday.

Making the announcement the commission’s chief elections officer Willie Kalonga said apart from the launch MEC will hold stakeholder’s meeting the same day.

Kalonga said “during the meeting, MEC Commissioners will give an opportunity to political parties, aspiring candidates, civil society organizations, traditional leaders and all stakeholders involved in the polls to seek clarification on any issue regarding conduct of the by-elections.”

The August 25 local government by-elections will take place in Luchenza Ward, Zomba Central Ward, Msikisi Ward in Mangochi, Chibanja Ward in Mzuzu and Khwawa Ward in Karonga.
