Egypt awards 19 Malawians

The Egyptian Ambassador to Malawi has awarded 19 new capacity building programs in different department and sectors.

Speaking in Lilongwe Wednesday during the handover ceremony, the Egyptian Ambassador, Maher EL-Adawy said the scholarships will help provide networking with people working all over the world.

“The scholarship means the possibility of strengthening the diplomatic relationship between Egypt and Malawi.This is also a possibility for African countries to get the latest technology and provide an opportunity to network with people working in the same field from all over the world,” said EL-Adawy.

He added that 19 are the important figures because they add up to 98 scholarships with previous 79 that Egypt had offered Malawian beneficiaries form different departments since September 2014 till date.

The Egyptians Ambassador said “Egypt will continue with these capacity building programs that are aimed to provide participants with the necessary skills and know-how to be ready for the highly competitive world that we live in today.”

He appealed to the trainees to share their newly acquired knowledge and experiences with their colleagues, friends and families to maximize the benefit to Malawi and African continent.

In her remarks the Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Jean Kalirani said the capacity building programs has helped improve the diplomatic relationship between Malawi and Egypt.

She urged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity wisely and that they must not bring shame to country by displaying bad behaviors during the training in Egypt.

“Each one of you should do your best, learn what you can and also show your colleagues in Egypt what Malawi is like through your behavior and be our ambassadors.

Catherine Salama, a business lady who owns Mwavava Auto Paints and Safety Product is one of the beneficiaries who said was grateful for the opportunity offered to her and that the knowledge would help her improve her business.

Egypt has since provided 19 capacity building programs in the fields of Health, Police, Information, Diplomacy, Agriculture, Trade, Rural Development, Empowerment of women, Natural Resources, Education among others.
