Experts push for new health advisory committees

Parent Child Health Initiative (PACHI), has expressed concern over lack of capacity building trainings for Health Advisory Committees.

The organization’s Safe Motherhood coordinator, Blessings Kumwenda says some of the HACs have over stayed.

“Inactiveness of HACs has contributed to shortage of drugs and poor health service delivery in many hospitals,” expressed Kumwenda.

District Councils have been calling for NGOs’ support to orient local structures on their roles.

Kumwenda thanked them for training local structures in the areas.

“I would remind organisations which promised to train Health Advisory Committees” Kumwenda promised

Kumwenda called for elections of local structures saying their ineffectiveness and overstaying have derailed development projects in their areas.

PACHI is implementing a- one and half year social accountability project-Maternal and new born Health which helps communities voice out their concerns.
