Government Begins Offering Free Secondary Education In Public Schools.

As one way of making sure that every child has access to education, government has today started offering free secondary school education to all public schools.

Government through the ministry of education has stripped off the tuition, book revolving and general purpose funds to all secondary school students.

Commenting on matter, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Bright Msaka, said the purpose of the initiative is to get rid of the barriers parents were going through.

“It is not true that free education will negatively affect the education standards in the country because it is government wish to create productive citizens,” Msaka said.

Before the first term of 2018 to 2019 academic year government had ordered all education division managers and head teachers not to collect school fees from students in public secondary schools.

After two weeks of the first term Ministry of Education, Science and Technology told the nation that secondary school education will be free effective second term which begins on 7 January,2019.
