Government & CSO’s Dialogue Meeting Postponed

A dialogue meeting between government and civil society organizations CSO’s has been postponed.

The meeting was scheduled to take place on Tuesday morning at the Office of President and Cabinet.

Confirming the postponement to Radio Islam vice chairperson of Human rights defenders coalition Gift Trapence said the meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon.

Mtambo said they have agreed to change the date because some civil society organizations are not in Lilongwe.

“We received the notice in the evening therefore some of our colleagues who are in Mzuzu and Blantyre could not make it this morning,” Trapence said

He stressed that the demonstrations scheduled for 21 September cannot be cancelled.

In a notice signed by Cliff Chiunda for chief secretary to government said the dialogue will provide an opportunity for continuous engagement on any other matters of national interest including those that may be related to the demonstrations.

It says the meeting is a follow-up on the engagement that government initiated with the human rights defenders coalition through the detailed response that was provided to the civil society on April 2018 CSO petition document.
