High court sustains injunction against Minister of Agriculture

The High Court in Mxuxu has ordered Minister of Agriculture Dr George Chaponda to stop executing his duties.

Judge John Chirwa made the ruling on Tuesday morning.

He said this after noting that Chaponda breached the constitution for going to Germany on behalf of government after being offered an injunction suspending him.

Judge Chirwa also said the attorney general Kalekeni Kaphale should not be the defendant.

He said the defense team should comprise President Peter Mutharika and Chaponda.

Meanwhile, members of the joint parliamentary have left the country to Xambia to probe the maixe deal.

However, one member Frank Mwenefumbo has expressed concern as he has been left behind.
