Islamic Relief Malawi Hands Over K140 million School Structures To Government.

Islamic Relief Malawi has handed over 140 million kwacha structures at Mikolongo primary school in Chikwawa district to government.

The structures include; school blocks, administration block, toilets, girls changing room and library with books.

Speaking during the handover ceremony Islamic relief country representative Sherifa Mia said her organization is geared to improve education standards in the country.

Mia promised that her organization will continue complimenting government’s efforts in order to improve people’s welfare.

In his remarks, head teacher of the school Felix Faraoh Phiri commended Islamic Relief Malawi for the donation saying it has come at the right time when the school is facing various challenges in its quest to provide quality education to the students.

Concurring with Faraoh district education manager for Chikwawa Chrissie Chimsale said lack of infrastructure development and unequal distribution of teachers in schools are the main challenges in most of the schools in the district.

Chimsale said teachers refuse to go to places where they have been allocated to due to lack of necessities.

She said government alone cannot manage to solve all the problems schools are facing hence asking other organizations to emulate the good gesture by Islamic Relief Malawi to support the sector.
