Revival of Islamic Heritage Society in Kuwait has refuted reports that chairman of Muslim Association of Malawi embezzled K39 million project funds intended for poor Malawians.

Chairman for African Continent Committee of the society Sheikh Jassim Alainati, who is in the country made the remarks when Radio Islam sought clarification on the matter after distributing bags of maize to over one thousand hunger stricken families in T/A Msamala in Balaka yesterday.

Sheikh Alainati explained that his organization has never remitted money intended for projects to any Malawian individual.

He said all funds are directly handled by him as the director and he established special committee to provide technical as well as supervisory support.

“Ha!ha!ha!, that is not true, I do not give anyone money for the projects which I implement in various countries across Africa,” said Sheikh Alainati.

He then commended Malawi government for maintaining peace, stability and creating a conducing environment for his organization to carry out its project.

Speaking after the donation, Executive Director for Muslim Association of Malawi MAM, Stoti Watch, commended African Continent Committee for the timely support it renders to Malawians.

Watch also assured Malawians that MAM will continue supporting people affected by hunger till the next growing season.

“MAM understands that many people did not harvest adequate yields therefore we will continue distributing relief items,” Watch expressed.
