MAM & ICJF ask Malawians to register for elections

Muslim Association of Malawi MAM and Islamic Commission for Justice and Freedom ICJF have asked people in the country to patronize voter registration centers as the exercise is in the firth phase.

This was said by chief commissioner of ICJF Abdurrahman Ajasi during sensitization campaign at Mbera and Kachenga Villages in Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka district.

Ajasi urged Muslims to conduct issue based campaign and avoid political violence.

“Every Malawian should participate in the country’s electoral processes,” he said

In his remarks chairman for the Muslim Association of Malawi in Balaka district, sheikh Ismailia Mtiko, hailed the two Islamic organisations for organising the campaign saying “it has helped people in the district to understand the importance of registration and also their role in elections.”

Phase five of voter registration is currently underway in Balaka, Neno, Thyolo, Luchenza Municipal, Phalombe and Mulanje.
