MCC Hands Over New Power Station to Malawi

Millennium Challenge Corporation MCC Malawi has handed over new Bwengu substation to Electricity Supply Cooperation Of Malawi ESCOM.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Mzuzu representative country director for MCC Malawi Molly Glenn said the substation will help to generate additional electricity in the country.

Glenn said they are happy that the 5 year Millennium challenge compact is Malawi which ended in September 2018 was successful.

“Our team is still working in Malawi until January 2019,” she said.

Glenn backed ESCOM’s desire to meet Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority on electricity tariff.

In his remarks, ESCOM chief executive officer Dr Alexon Chiwaya said Bwengu substation will help to generate more electricity in the northern region.
