Ntchisi Children’s Parliament in Session

Ntchisi District Community Services Office has urged delegates to children’s parliamentary meeting to come up with possible solutions to challenges they are going through.

Speaking during the official opening of the 3 day Children Parliament in the district, District Community Services Officer, Victor Matayataya, advised the delegates to deliberate on issues which could be incorporated in the 2016 District Development Plan (DDP) and budget.

Matayataya commended Plan Malawi and Ntchisi Organization for Youth and Development (NOYD) for organizing the Children Parliament whose aim was to let the children speak for themselves on issues affecting themselves.

On his remarks Speaker of the Childrens’ Parliament, Innocent Chananga said the conference will helped them to identify the challenges children face by each constituency besides gaining knowledge on how business is conducted in parliament.

Chananga asked other NGO’s working in the district to organize similar parliamentary meetings so that children of the district can deliberate and find solutions to the issues affecting them.

Ntchisi district Children Parliament delegates are expected to deliberate on issues such as Child Labour, Child Marriages, Sexual Harassment, lack of parental care and basic needs at home and school among others.
