Media Urged To Scrutinise Political Messages

The media has been urged to scrutinize political messages ahead of 2019 tripartite elections.

The call was made in Zomba at the end of a two day media training on elections reporting.

The training was organized by Community Foundation on Education and Development (CFED) with funding from Konrad Adena stiftung KAS Media.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Executive Director for CFED, Albert Sharra, said the training was organized to impart skills for the media to question political messages before relaying them to the public.

“The media needs to critically analyze political messages to avoid misleading the masses,” Sharra said

In his remarks, spokesperson of Malawi Electoral Commission MEC Sangwani Mwafulirwa said the media has so far fared well in covering 2019 electoral processes.
