MH DC calls for new ways to keep girls in school

Mangochi district Commissioner Mosses Chimphepo says new ways must be found to keep girls in school.

The appeal has been made as drop-out rate is increasing despite efforts by organisations that are promoting girls education in Mangochi.

“Chimwala primary school where 200 pupils are enrolled in standard 1 but only 40 reach standard 8,” cited Chimphepo.

The DC was speaking during an interface meeting with Civil Society Organisation Network, which aimed at finding ways on how the district council and CSOs can work together to propel development in the district.

In his remarks chairperson for Civil Society Organisations Network in Mangochi Tena Banda said the gathering was very significant as it will help them in their projects.

Banda commended the new DC for being open and ensuring that problems in the district are being rectified in appropriate time.
