Muslim leaders asked to inform MANEB of Eid holiday

Malawi Examinations Board MANEB has urged Muslim leaders to consult it on Eid holidays.

This has come after Muslim community noted that MANEB MSCE examination Calendar is not observing Eid public holiday on Monday.

Form four students will sit for exams on that day.

Speaking to radio Islam, MANEB public relations officer Simion Maganga confirmed that the board will not observe the holiday as such students will sit for examinations that day.

Meanwhile, government has wished all Muslims in Malawi and the Diaspora Eid Mubarak.

In a statement secretary for local government and rural development Kiswell Dakamau said 2017 Eid Public holiday will be observed on Monday next week.

“Muslim Association of Malawi advised that this year’s Eid ul fitr celebrations will be either on Sunday 25th or Monday 26th June depending on the sighting of moon,” said Dakamau.

The celebrations will mark the end of holy month of Ramadhan.
