Police Shoots to Death Hardcore Criminal

Police in Blantyre have shot dead the most wanted criminal in Limbe.

According to eye witnesses the incident occurred near Limbe market in the morning.

It is reported that he died upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital.

“The deceased was a hardcore criminal and on wanted list for several armed robberies,” police report indicates

In February this year the same suspect was caught with a star pistol but overpowered the police officers and managed to run away with a pair of handcuffs.

“On 14th September Limbe police detectives carried out a mini operation driven by intelligence collection with an aim of apprehending him as he was meeting his colleagues to strategise for another attack during the night at Mpingwe,” adds the report

The officers fired several warning shots for him to stop but he did not take heed of the caution.

“As one officer was getting close to effect an arrest he produced a sharp panga knife hence hit by some stray bullets,” the report continues

When contacted public relations officer for Limbe police Patrick Mussa said he is searching the information on the matter.

The incident has happened after police also shot to death a criminal in Mpingwe where they wanted to steal few days ago.
