Polytechnic Muslim Students Association appeals for financial support to 10 Muslim students

Polytechnic Muslim Students Association (POMSA) has appealed to members of the general public to assist ten Muslim students with financial support to pay tuition fees, accommodation, meals and other studying accessories to pursue their studies.

According to the letter of appeal Radio Islam has seen, the Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi registered 160 Muslim students.

Signed by POMSA Chairperson, Prince Hassan says 26.5% are first year students who are self-sponsored and struggling to make end meet.

“Apart from the tuition fees the 10 needy Muslim students are failing even to provide themselves with food and accommodation,” Hassan said

He said the students are currently being kept by their friends and sleeping in prayer rooms.

The chairperson says “POMSA is trying its level best to provide them with basic necessities but the problems are now beyond its capability.”

Hassan therefore asked the Islamic organizations and other individuals to donate whatever they manage in order to minimize the challenges the ten Muslim students are going through.
