Villagers construct mosque

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has commended Muslims of Kwiputi village TA Jalasi in Mangochi district for constructing a new masjid with their resources.

National Chairman for MAM, Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, made the remarks when he officially opened the masjid.

Sheikh Muhammad said he is impressed to note that Muslims in the area identified a problem and came up with a solution.

“It was of this view that I had decided to support them till the end of the project,” said Sheikh Idrissa.

Sheikh Muhammad therefore encouraged Muslims in the area to mould more bricks to construct a house for the sheikh.

“Other villagers must emulate the good example shown by the community,” he said.

Sheikh Muhammad then assured Muslims in the area and all over Malawi that he will continue supporting programs aimed at promoting Islam in the country.

In his remarks Senior Chief Jalasi said is delighted that the project has been completed.

He applauded all people who played a role in the project saying it has proved to the world that Muslims in the country are capable of developing their areas.
