MEC To Meet On Low Voter Turn Out

As voter registration for 2019 tripartite elections ends today, Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has assured Malawians that its officials will meet to make a decision on the low turnout of eligible voters.

Speaking to Radio Islam Chief Elections Officer Sam Alufandika said MEC will announce the number of people registered in the last phase of the exercise.

Alufandika said “phase 8 has been successful.”

Malawians will vote in tripartite elections on 21 May, 2019 to elect president, Members of Parliament and councilors.

Some of the aspiring presidential candidates are president Peter Mutharika, Joyce Banda, Atupele Muluzi and Lazarus Chakwera.
