Madrassa Open Day Held In Mzuzu City

Madrassa open day through which Muslims showcase what they learn at the Islamic institution has been held in Mzuzu city.

Three madrassa centres namely Mchengautuwa, Katoto and Salisbury participated.

The children showcased what they learn at their respective madrassa which included Quran recitation, sayings of last prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him known as Hadith and Tauheed the oneness of Allah among others.

During the occasion Radio Islam listeners association presented gifts to the learners at Mchengautuwa Masjid

Speaking at the event chairperson of Muslim Association of Malawi in Mzuzu city Sheikh Cassim Matola advised Muslim parents to send children to madrassa.

“Once the children learn Islam they will benefit both on earth and in the hereafter. it is the responsibility of every parent to make sure that every child is attending Islamic studies adding there are a number of rewards for both of them,” said Sheikh Matola

He also encouraged them to send the children to school to learn worldly matters so that they should be able to follow the affairs.

In his remarks secretary for Mchengautuwa Masjid Rashid Moyo asked the parents to work hand in hand with the committee so that no child is left behind in as far as attaining Islamic knowledge is concerned.

Moyo bemoaned high rate of absenteeism by some learners at Mchengautuwa madrassa.

In his remarks Hussein Mwenyemasi representative of chairman of Radio Islam Listeners Association encouraged to ensure that children are acquiring both Islamic and academic knowledge.
