MBS to ban unapproved Hand sanitizers

Malawi Bureau of Standards MBS orders producers and importers of hand sanitizer products to ensure they have been approved by 18th June

In a press release MBS director general Symon Mandala says a mandatory Malawi standard for hand sanitizers was developed and approved by MBS board which is ready for implementation by the bureau.

Mandala says implementation of the standard will ensure that manufacture,, distribution and sell of hand sanitizers is properly regulated at national level for the sake of public health and safety.
“Hand sanitizers that will not be registered and approved by 18th June shall not be allowed on Malawi markeT.”

Mandala says MBS shall undertake market surveillance activities and action on all substandard hand sanitizers.
He says as their contribution to the fight against Covid-19 pandemic the standard is being sold at a 50 percent discount.
