Minister Denies Offering Contract to Ghost Company

Minister of energy, mining and natural resources has rejected claims that his ministry paid 7 billion kwacha to a ghost company to carryout Kamwamba thermo power project.

Speaking during a press briefing Binton Kuntsaira said the Ministry did not pay Black and Veatch Company of America without following proper procedure.

“The Ministry was dealing with the company for a contract but it was cancelled before making any payments and gave the contract to EGENCO,” says Kuntsaira

He also denied rumours that Jameson minerals have been extracted from Malawi and found in Tanzania saying they investigated the matter and is false.

Kuntsaira called upon Malawians to inform the Ministry and ask for clarification once they encounter any illegal mining in their communities instead of disseminating false information to the public.
