WESM for Climate Change Effects Mitigation

Wildlife Environmental Society of Malawi (WESM) has called on stakeholders to champion the mitigating measures on effects of climate change.

The call has been made as the world is commemorating this year’s Global Week of Climate Action.

Speaking at a press briefing in Blantyre, Chairperson of WESM, Tionge Gawa, said the week raises awareness and supports developing countries to achieve global climate neutrality by mid-century.

“The week also inspires individuals, organizations and governments to become part of the momentum created by global climate agreement in Paris,” said Gawa

She said her organization has lined up a number of activities to commemorate the week.

This year Malawi is commemorating under the theme: “Plastic Free Malawi is Possible”.
