Women march in Malawi against defilement

Women have marched in Blantyre against the increase in rape and defilement cases in the country.

The march started from Immigration offices in Blantyre to council offices under the banner Young women rights where they presented a petition

Speaking after presenting the petition Rachel Chanika of young women rights said it is disheartening to note the increase in the rape and defilement cases being perpetuated by people who are supposed to protect and promote girls and women rights.

Chanika said are hopeful that government will respond to their concerns with urgency it deserves.

“We have not given government and we are optimistic that Tonse government will address our concerns,” Chanika

ls said it will be delivered to rightful authorities.
