Govt for competent Officers in Public positions

Vice president Dr Saulos Chilima vows to make sure that only competent people are occupying public positions in order to improve service delivery.

Chilima who is also Minister of economic planning was speaking in Lilongwe during a meeting with various officials of parastatals and councils in central region to review progress of public reforms.

“People working in the public sector will be monitored, their performance assessed and the information made public,”Chilima emphasised.

Chilima is also expected to meet officials of parastatals and councils in the southern and northern region.

In his remarks chief executive officer for Lilongwe city council John Chome said their position is to provide good services to residences but main challenge is lack of funds.

“We are very optimistic that the new reforms will help the council improve its service delivery,”Chome said.

Before the interface meeting began some officials who came late were sent back.
