Nkhatabay police appeals to citizens to care for children
Police in Nkhatabay appeals to citizens to take care of children whenever they visit Lake Malawi to avoid drowning.
The appeal comes after a one year old girl drowned in the lake at Masuhunju fishing camp in Chintheche.
According to Nkhatabay police publicist sergeant Kondwani James on 3rd October the deceased was brought by her mother to the fishing camp to buy fish.
“In the process the mother neglected the duty of taking care of the little one therefore the child crawled into the lake and drowned.” said James
People around the place tried to rescue the kid but it was too late.
Therefore police advise all people who take their kids on their trips to the lake never to leave them unattended to prevent similar deaths.
