Voter registration in Malawi amid COVID-19

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC says first phase of registration for fresh presidential elections has started well.

According to MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa, all the centers were opened on time and are operational.

However, Mwafulirwa said some centers run out of stationary but was quick to say the situation was resolved in time.

“The registration continues in the districts of Chitipa, Karonga, Salima, Dedza, Ntcheu, Blantyre, Chikwawa and Nsanje,” says Mwafulirwa

Malawi will hold fresh presidential elections after the constitutional court nullified 2019 21 May tripartite elections.

Malawi Electoral Commission announced that the elections will be held on 2 July which is the 149th day of the 150 days set by the court.
