GOVT Hikes Water Tarrifs

Kalondolondo Program has said the hiking of water tariffs is unjustifiable considering poor service delivery by the water boards.

According to Kolondolo Programs’ Manager for Kalondolondo, Jephter Mwanza, the 45 percent hike has come without consultations from the stakeholders including the consumers.

Mwanza said “there are no commitments from water boards to interact with consumers in all the districts across the country.”

Mwanza said he will take advantage of the National Stakeholders conference which is due this month to present to government and water boards consumers’ expectation from them.

Malawi has five water boards namely Blantyre Water Board, Southern Region Water Board, Central Region Water Board, Northern region Water Board and Lilongwe Water Board.
