IHAM, PAC offer free surgery for 150 patients at ZCH

Islamic Health Association of Malawi (IHAM) in partnership with Physicians across Continents (PAC) has pledged to continue offering free urology and general surgery camp.

Speaking during a weeklong surgical camp underway at Zomba Central Hospital ZCH, IHAM executive director, Hajj Daitoni, says 17 doctors from England, Jordan and Palestine are assisting 150 patients with urology problems.

Dyton says more than 75 surgeries have been conducted so far and IHAM plans to hold more camps to address the significant need for surgical services in Malawi.

In his remarks chief urologist at the facility, Dr Wanangwa Chisenga, says the hospital continues to have a number of patients on its waiting list hence applauding IHAM for the camp.

According to Chisenga people should develop health seeking behaviour when faced with persistent as well as recurrent urinary tract infections.

He has reiterated the call to train more urologists to foster diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract infections.
