Former President Worried With Electricity & Fuel Hike

Former President Dr Joyce Banda has expressed worry over the current electricity and fuel hike in the country.

Banda who is also president of Peoples party PP was speaking during a rally in Mangochi five days after voter registration ended in the district.

She said if voted into power in 2019 tripartite elections her party would make sure that electricity is everywhere in the villages and free of charge.

“I am very concerned that Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority has increased electricity tariff by 31.8 percent in a four year period and fuel by 5 percent,” bemoaned Banda

She promised to get rid of the challenges Malawians are facing.

Banda said “PP would give subsidized fertilizer to poor Malawians and create job opportunities to the youth.”

She added the country would be exporting locally produced products in order to empower small scale business people.
