Mama Amina Islamic Girls Secondary School to plant over 1 thousand trees in this year’s season

Mama Amina Islamic Girls Secondary School has planned to plant 1100 trees in the 2021 to 2022 national tree planting season

Director of the institute Hassan Abdul Maliki disclosed this during the tree planting exercise at the school in Balaka district

Speaking during the initiative Abdul Maliki said having planted about 3 hundred seedlings at their school campus the institute is expecting to plant at least 8 hundred more by the end of this year’s tree planting season

He advised learners take a leading role in conserving environment in order to minimize impacts of climate change

Abdul Maliki said apart from complementing government’s tree planting season it is also within the teachings of Islam that people should care for the environment

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera launched the 2021 to 2022 national tree planting season on 25 February 2022 in Dowa district

Malawi observes the season from 15 December to 15  April but the launch of the current season was delayed because of drought
