Maneb CEO Suspended

Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has suspended its executive director, Gerald Chiunda pending investigation on examination leakage.

According to a letter signed by the boards Vice Chairperson Dr Edith Mmela, the board instituted a special committee to look into the leakages which lead to the cancelation of this year’s examinations.

Mmela says they met on 6th November to discuss a report from the special investigation committee which found that there was evidence of gross negligence in the efficient and effective management and conduct of the MSCE examination.

The Vice Chairperson adds that the board finds that there were serious violations and probable commission of offences contrary to the Malawi National Examination Board act (cap: 30:04).

She says the board shall give Chiunda an opportunity to be held on the matter regarding his role.
