Muslims free to join political parties-MAM

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has clarified that by making its stand that it works with the government of the day does not deprive Muslims to join political parties of their choice.

MAM Secretary General, Alhaji Dr Twaibu Lawe made the position through the press statement made available to Radio Islam.

Dr Lawe said the stand is meant for all Muslims to benefit from government development programs.

He said MAM as religious organization respects constitutional rights which promote freedom of association.

Dr Lawe however said “on this regard any member of MAM is free to join, support and work with a party of their choice.”

He further said for example MAM is consists of members belonging to different political parties.
