PCI offers Zomba District Council vehicles from Idai response project

Project Concerned International (PCI) has offered three vehicles to Zomba District Council after completing Machinga, Zomba Idai response project

Speaking the vehicles Zomba district commissioner Dr Smart Gwedemula said the vehicles will ease mobility challenges of the council

He said there have been times when district officials have failed to implement their developmental activities in time due to lack of transport.

” Zomba is a vast district and that being the case, it requires the council to have enough vehicles. The offer by PCI is timely as they have now increased their motorcade and expect speedy implementation of various projects,” Dr Gwedemula

Meanwhile, Zomba District Council has allocated the vehicles to agriculture, health and water sectors

PCI Acting Country Director, John Chimpokoso, said having completed the project in Zomba, the organization decided to give its vehicles to the council to ease transport challenges.

Chimpokoso said “apart from improving mobility challenges, the vehicles would help in sustaining the projects that the organization was implementing since council officials will have the opportunity to travel to the project site.”

With support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), PCI has been implementing the Machinga, Zomba Idai response project whose main focus was construction of toilets in schools and drilling of boreholes for community’s access to clean and safe water.
