World Bank approves funds for GESD project in Malawi
World Bank has approved 100 million dollars for Good Governance to enable Service Delivery {GESD} project.
According to a statement signed by Anne Kabagambe Executive Director of Executive Board of directors of International Development Association (IDA), the approval was made on 30th April.
Kabagambe said objective of GESD project is strengthening Local Authorities institutional performance, responsiveness to citizens and management of service delivery.
“Among others the project will finance performance-based grants to 28 district local authorities to deriver priority projects,” she says
Meanwhile, government says the fund is a sign that the World Bank has trust in the country’s economic policies.
