Brothers killed in Chieftaincy wrangle

Two brothers of the same family have been killed over chieftaincy wrangle in Dowa.

The deceased have been identified as biological brothers Kaponda Soka Kenamu 66 and Kakhomba Soka Kenamu 62.

According to public relations officer for Dowa Police station Gladson M’bumpha the incident took place during the night of 7th March at Kakhomba village.

“Kakhomba was the chief but Kaponda also wanted the chieftainship and this was known to everyone in the village. In the afternoon of March 7 Kaponda went missing and his relatives started searching for him,” M’bumpha says

They noticed blood stains near Kakhomba’s house but he was reportedly away.

Kaponda was discovered dead and half buried along Fumbwe River bank in the village.

“This angered the villagers who resorted to burn the house of Kakhomba and slashed his maize field,” add M’bumpha

Kakhomba and his wife disappeared from the village and went to Nkhoma in Lilongwe but angry villagers on the night of 9th March followed hence taking him to his village where he was burnt to death using tyres.
