Blantyre district health office BT DHO says is geared to administer covid vaccine Monday next week
According to BT DHO district medical Officer Dr Zaziwe Gunda the office is targeting 5505 health workers
Dr Gunda said “we will not force any health worker to get the vaccine.”
He did not specify when the vaccination campaign for health workers will be completed
Commenting on the covid-19 schools assessment campaign Dr Gunda said over 300 students were tested and four are positive
Meanwhile the campaign is expected to roll out tomorrow when the president and his vice will get the vaccine in Zomba and Mzuzu
Malawi received Astrazeneca vaccine from COVAX which is a consortium of World Health Organisation, CEPI and GAVI
However, many Malawians are reluctant to receive the vaccine
Other countries such as South Africa have halted the rolling out of this vaccine for failing to treat mild symptoms
