Civil society organizations CSO’s have demanded president Chakwera to relieve all people named in corruption investigations
In a joint statement HRDC, YAS, CSAT and national advocacy platform say if the president does not act within 21 days they will hold demonstrations and vigils
Their leaders Benedicto Kondowe, Charles Kajoloweka, Willly Kambwandira and Gift Trapence also demand ant corruption bureau to publish all names linked to Zuneth Sattar corruption case
They have asked minister of justice to apologise for misleading that nation that no one in the tonse government was connecting to Sattar investigations and prosecution
The consortium of CSO’s says “government should guarantee a vibrant access to information and protect the rights.”
HRDC, YAS, CSAT and national advocacy platform call on ant corruption body and other enforcement agents need greater support, empowerment and coordination to make meaningful progress in the fight against corruption
Kondowe, Trapence, Kajoloweka and Kambwandira urge government to create more robust systems for accountability, transparency and integrity without delay
They ask the current administration to promote fair business opportunities and Malawians to demand accountability from the president
In addition the CSO’s appeal to Malawians to act in unison and rise up to force the country’s leader to act
