CSTU, TUM, Government meet on salary increment
Civil Society Trade Union CSTU and Teachers Union of Malawi TUM have asked government to come out openly on its position regarding civil servants salary increment for 2022 to 2023 financial year.
CSTU secretary general Madalitso Njolomole and TUM secretary general Charles Kumchenga have said this in a letter addressed to secretary to president and cabinet
Njolomole and Kumchenga said the two unions are dissatisfied with unnecessary delays by responsible offices to update them on the final salary increment after government has prepared for civil servants after tireless engagement with GNT on the same
They requested government to call for a government negotiating team GNT meeting urgently to finalize their negotiations as soon as possible since parliament passed all bills
“CSTU and TUM hoped that government will treat their letter with utmost urgency it deserves because delays in engaging unions on civil servants salary increment might trigger unspecified action by all civil servants in Malawi,” Njolomole & Kumchenga
In an interview with Radio Islam Monday morning Kumchenga said were meeting GNT today and will provide details later
