Development partners ask Malawians to register for elections

Development partners have asked Malawians to register in order to vote in next year’s tripartite elections.

One of the partners Irish Ambassador Gerrad Cunninehem made the remarks at Mtsirixa ground in Lilongwe during the commemoration of African day of decentralization.

The day was commemorated under the theme “fighting corruption at the local level, key to sustainable development in Africa.

Speaking at the function Cunninehem said corruption hinders development therefore it must be curbed.

“Ireland will continue supporting Malawi in its efforts to end corruption,” Cunninehem said

Speaking at the same event minister of local government and rural development Kondwani Nankhumwa said citizen participation in different projects can help to eradicate corruption in Malawi.

Commenting director of public education at Ant Corruption Bureau ACB Charity Mphande urged Malawians to cooperate in the fight against corruption.

Mphande said ACB welcomes anyone who reports corruption to its committees established in various councils.
