Chiwanja cha Ayawo has advised people in the country not to hold initiation camps during holiday of second term in the 2021 to 2022 academic year

Chiefs council of Chiwanja cha Ayao, has made the call as pupils are expected to go to second term holiday in few weeks’ time and some parents are preparing to hold initiation ceremonies

Speaking with radio Islam on behalf of the chiefs’ council, Sultan Chowe has urged chiefs, angalibas, parents and guardians who are crucial in initiation ceremonies to avoid conducting such camps because the period for this coming second term holiday is too short.

“I appeal to chiefs in various communities where initiation ceremonies take place to be vigilant and penalize those who do not take heed of the message,” Sultan Chowe

He added that pupils are likely to miss classes in the final term if they go to initiation camps in two weeks’ holiday.

Last year some parents and angalibas were jailed for holding initiation camps before schools closed in mangochi district
