Eid holiday either Friday or Monday-Government

Government has announced that Eid-ul-fitr holiday will be observed either Friday this week or Monday next week marking the end of holy month of ramadhan

According to Ministry of local government, unity and culture this decision has been made following the advice from Muslim Association of Malawi that Eid prayers will be held either on Friday or Saturday depending on sighting of new moon

Secretary for local government James Chiusiwa says if the moon is sighted on Thursday Eid holiday will be on Friday

However if sighted on Friday 21^st April Eid holiday will be observed on Monday 24^th April

Government therefore advises the public that announcement of the actual sighting of the new moon will be made by Muslim Association of Malawi
