Floods Destroy Property In Balaka

Floods have washed away some houses and damaged food as well as livestock at Ulongwe in Balaka district.

According to district council chair Mary Makhiringa the floods occurred on Tuesday after the district received heavy rains from Monday.

Makhiringa said the floods displaced people in some villages of Mkweta in Traditional Authority Kalembo.

“As a council they are still assessing the extent of the damage,” Makhiringa said

According to one of the victims Alex Moses the water reached window level and washed away all his belongings.
